Proper dance attire is necessary for the development of each individual dancer, as it affects their posture, placement and attitude in dance class as well as the instructor’s ability to provide feedback on your dancer’s performance and progress. Our dress code is designed to encourage unity and discipline among our students. Do not send your child to to dance in their school clothing. Hair should be styled in a bun, braid or ponytail away from the face and neck for all classes. All smart watches and similar devices must be turned off or programmed to not disturb the dancer or others. Dancers will be asked to remove any item that distracts them or other dancers.
Dancers in any level hip hop class may wear hip hop boots, jazz sneakers or tan jazz shoes in class. NO tennis shoes or street shoes that have been worn outside are allowed! Street shoes track in dirt, rocks, glass shards and more. Some of our class styles allow dancers to be barefoot. Please recognize that these particles can be very hazardous to all of our dancers.
GDDS is a nut free dance school. With the typical increase in consumption of sweets and treats during the holidays, please do not send your dancer to class with snacks containing nuts. This has been a dance school policy since 2018.
