Spring Time – What a Feeling!
Fabulous fall greetings from Grayce DeWitt Dance Studio!
Just like the flowers, we are blooming and growing in our dance classes as we prepare to showcase all we’ve learned this year at our spring performances in May.
Here are a few reminders and announcements about upcoming events:
March 18th-22nd:
GDDS will be closed for Spring Break. All classes and rehearsals will resume on March 25th.
March 28th:
Registration for Summer Dance Arts begins
April 4th:
Deadline to sign your dancer up for their 5, 10, 15 year award or graduating senior recognition. This sign up sheet will be available through April 4th, 2024. April 19th and 20th:
Recital photos with Virgila Dale’s Photography. These are optional and by appointment only. More details to come! Virgilia plans to make sessions available to sign up on April 1st. Follow her Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/virgiladalesphotography to access the link as soon as its posted. Virgilia’s incredible work can be viewed on our website and in our studio lobby.
DANCE est Joie, Inc. Auditions
Auditions for 2024-2025 DANCE est Joie, Inc. will take place on Thursday, June 1st, 2023. All audition events will take place in person at Grayce DeWitt Dance Studio. A required audition preparation class will take on Tuesday, May 28th, 2024. An open studio opportunity with take place at GDDS on Wednesday, May 29th, 2024. Dancers auditioning for DANCE est Joie, Inc. are welcome to utilize the studios at GDDS for their audition preparations. A GDDS representative will be present to oversee this event, but will not be providing instruction, feedback or assistance to dancers. Dancers are not required to attend our open studio event. Audition routines are property of DANCE est Joie, Inc. and Grayce DeWitt Dance Studio. This choreography may be utilized for competition routines and performances. Formal auditions are closed to guests and observers. The audition schedule is detailed below:
Audition Preparation Classes: Tuesday, May 28th
Dancers will learn two combinations for their audition.
*4:30-6:30 (dancers ages 6-11)
*6:45-8:45 (dancers ages 12+)
*Audition group is based off of the dancer’s age as of January 1st, 2025. The audition group does not determine the group they will perform with throughout the season. Dancers will be grouped into competition dances based on their audition performances.
The cost of the preparation class is $20.00 per dancer. Acceptable payment methods are listed below:

Auditions for DANCE est Joie, Inc. Competition and Performance Teams: Thursday, May 30th:
*5:00-6:30 (dancers ages 6-11)
*6:30-8:00 (dancers ages 12+)
Additional information for the audition will be required by Google Form at a later date. For more information about becoming a member of DANCE est Joie, Inc. please join us for an informational meeting on Tuesday, April 30th 6:00-7:00 or Wednesday, May 1st 6:30-7:30 at Grayce DeWitt Dance Studio. Attendance is not required, but we highly encourage you to participate to learn more about our upcoming season, expectations, costs, schedule and more. The current season’s copy of our dance company handbook is available on the dance company page of our website. A member meeting will be required following the formal audition.
Recital VIPS
With the help of many very talented backstage stars, dancers can amazingly prepare for each recital dance in no time! If you enjoy working with children and share the love of dance, please sign up to volunteer backstage at one of our spring recitals. You must be willing to volunteer at dress rehearsal and the show. In return for your kindness, you will receive 3 FREE front of house tickets ($54 value) for the evening your dancer performs!

“Disenchantment” Recital Ticket Sales
Ticket sales for our show on Thursday, May 23rd will begin at 5:30pm on Tuesday, April 9th. Ticket sales for our show on Friday, May 24th will begin at 5:30pm on Tuesday, April 16th. Sales during this period will be online only. General ticket sales will begin on Monday, April 22nd. Watch for details regarding recital ticket sales in a separate email sent in April.
Studio Shoe Dress Code Reminder
Please make sure your dancer is prepared with the accurate shoes for their weekly class and the upcoming recital performance. In addition, dancers in hip hop classes may not wear street shoes for class or recital participation. We consider street shoes as footwear that has been worn outside. Street shoes bring in dirt, rocks, glass and more onto our professional dance flooring. These particles damage our floors and are hazardous to dancers.
